Way back when, and then some, in the mid-90s, I had what might today be considered a web log, or web journal, on my web site. Back then I thought of it as a newspaper-style column. I called it The View From Here because we were living in Brasilia, Brazil. Being an American diplomatic spouse in that time in place did, indeed, afford me a different perspective — both as a close-in observer of things Brazilian, but also as a semi-voluntary expatriate looking back what was going on back home in the U.S.
I’ve always liked that title, and so I decided to dust it off and put it to work again.
